Meet our Chef

Chef William Hughins DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel San Jose, CA - Chef William Hughins

Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, William Hughins' passion for the culinary arts began at a young age. After graduating high school, William attended California Culinary Academy.

After graduating from the California Culinary Academy, William began his career at one of San Francisco’s oldest butcheries, Guerra's, where he learned a great deal about fine meats. From there, William's career continued at the Hawks restaurant in Granite Bay, CA, where his knowledge on the requirements necessary to become a top tier cook was solidified. After just a year there, William was promoted to Sous Chef.

After leaving the Hawks Restaurant, Chef William began working at Spruce in San Francisco. During his time as a lead fish and meat cook at Spruce, Spruce received their first Michelin Star.

After his departure from Spruce, William assisted Chef Tyler Florence with the opening of his restaurant El Paseo in Mill Valley. William started as Sous Chef and was eventually promoted to Chef de Cuisine. During his time at El Paseo, the restaurant received three stars in the San Francisco Chronicle.

From there, William was transferred to Tyler Florence's iconic San Francisco Restaurant, Wayfare Tavern where he worked as Chef Di Cuisine. After 8 years under his culinary belt in San Francisco, William made the decision to move back to his home base in the South Bay and join the Hilton Family.
