Lakes and waterfalls strategically placed along the 18-hole 'linkside' course provide a delicate soundtrack and a fascinating obstacle to overcome at the Acaya Golf Club. The wind, 'Jentu' in local dialect, often blows on the course and represents another interesting 'hazard, ' forcing players to choose unusual directions and trajectories to take advantage of the drift.
Designed by the American firm Hurdzan & Fry, the course is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation. The variety of the design and the constant research for perfect harmony between the natural characteristics of the land and the hazards press players to use all 14 woods and irons in their bag.
The fairways grass is a strong, compact American bermuda from seed, offering an excellent surface. Four types of fescue grass grow to their natural height and form a natural border to the fairways. Two types of agrostis stolonifera palustris - A4 and A1 – are used for the greens: a composition that has about twice the stem density as common Penncross. Th Acaya Golf Club features Par 71, Hcp; CR 71, 4; and SR 130 meters 6.192. Take advantage of the covered driving range, pitching and putting green, and bunker pitching to perfect your game.
In September 2013, Acaya hosted the national final for the Audi Quattro tournament. During the event, Audi showcased its latest car models such as RS6 and R8, giving golfers the opportunity for a test drive. At the Acaya Open 2012 - European Challenge Tour, Norwegian Espen Kofstad finished eagle, birdie, and par to claim his maiden Challenge Tour victory. He edged out Joachim Hansen of Denmark at the last hole. A superb five under par 65 took the 24-year-old to nine under, but he was helped by Hansen's bogey at the 18th. Englishman Jamie Moul claimed the Challenge Tour title in 2011 with a five under par 65 in the final round.
