Weekend Guide

Plan the perfect weekend at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Alice Springs hotel, boasting an ideal location in a tourist strip of Barrett Drive and within walking distance of downtown Alice Springs.

  • Alice Springs Airport is only 16 minutes drive and 12.5km to DoubleTree by Hilton Alice Springs. A taxi ride will only cost $20-$30. Enjoy buffet breakfast at Springs Restaurant – located on the ground floor of the hotel, before heading out to explore.
  • In the early morning, head to Alice Springs Desert Park. Only a 12 minute taxi ride from the hotel, you will have the opportunity to experience one of the oldest aboriginal cultures in the world. Enjoy a one-hour exclusive and authentic Central Australian Aboriginal experience and familiarise yourself with native plants, animals and the desert terrain. Entry is $25 per visit and Aboriginal Cultural Tour Group Rates start at $38.
  • Take a taxi or a short walk to the Royal Flying Doctors Tourist Facility to learn all about the history of this essential medical service provided to remote parts of Australia and their ongoing work to fly patients with medical emergencies throughout Australia’s remote locations. Afterwards, visit the Alice Springs Reptile Centre just around the corner from the hotel and get introduced to our unique Australian native animals.

  • If time permits, wander around the captivating Indigenous Art Galleries. Our favourite is Muk Muk Fine Art, a short trip from the town centre. You will be mesmerised by the intricate details, ancient symbols and vivid earth colours incorporated into each piece of artwork.
  • Head back to the hotel and enjoy a well-deserved lunch at Deck Eatery & Bar. The kangaroo share plate is especially popular.
  • In the afternoon, give your 5 iron a swing at the Alice Springs Golf Club, one of the most unique desert driving ranges in the world.
  • Alternatively, when it's a bit cooler, take a scenic walk. We recommend that you take a large water bottle to visit ANZAC Hill. This is a historical attraction commemorating the Australian and New Zealand service men and woman who served in WWI and WWII and showcases the expansive MacDonnell ranges and Caterpillar Dreaming which has great history to local Indigenous people. Saddle up and explore the majestic MacDonnell Ranges with Pyndan Camel Tracks at dusk.

  • Enjoy dinner at award-winning Hanuman Restaurant at DoubleTree by Hilton Alice Springs. The famous restaurant showcases the best of South East Asian and Indian cuisine with the very best ingredients. The tagine oysters are a favourite!
  • Take the dance floor and experience some of the Alice Springs nightlife at Rock Bar. The Rock Bar offers live entertainment on several evenings throughout the week.

  • An early start today!  Wake refreshed with a complete buffet breakfast at Springs Restaurant with eggs cooked to perfection.
  • Our friends at Alice Wanderer can take you on an extraordinary full-day journey through the West MacDonnell Ranges. Visit the historical precinct of Hermannsburg and immerse yourself in a 4WD adventure and Palm and Cycad Gorge. This 7:30 to 5:30 tour is something you shouldn't miss!

  • Once you get back to the hotel, laze by the pool and end your day with a beer, cocktail or glass of wine from our extensive and growing wine list.
  • Experience a delicious outback dinner at the Overlander Steakhouse with succulent meats such as camel, crocodile, kangaroo, emu and fresh seafood which is flown in daily. They offer a unique share option known as the 'Overlanders Table', and visitors can share the famous 'Drovers Blowout', along with other travellers company and experiences.
