Things To Do
Bucharest, the capital of the eastern European country Romania, is a vibrant city with bustling nightlife and plenty of culture.
Romanian legend has it that the city of Bucharest was founded on the banks of the Dambovita River by a shepherd named Bucur, whose name literally means 'joy.' His flute playing abilities reportedly dazzled the people and his hearty wine from nearby vineyards endeared him to the local traders, who gave his name to the place.
An evolving and intriguing mix of eras, Bucharest is made up of wide boulevards, century-old villas, 18th century monasteries and unsightly communist-built housing blocks. It is in Bucharest that you will find the country's top museums and many green parks. You will also find the ongoing development of the crumbling historic center that gives optimism at a return to classiness. In the 20th century, Bucharest was also known as Little Paris. The Old City bears an uncanny resemblance to Paris, and walking on those streets is like wandering about the streets of another era.
Bucharest offers also a wide range of entertainment ranging from bars and clubs to opera and classical music.
Bucharest is filled with great places just waiting to be discovered.
